Improving Transportation on North Lamar

The contact team, as well as the North Austin Civic Association (NACA), are working with the City of Austin, TxDOT, and other agencies to finally make some improvement in our segment of North Lamar. The City has some sidewalk money from the last bond issue. TxDOT’s Austin office has some bits of money for various things, which they may be able to use here. There’s not enough to just say Fix Everything! so we’re developing a list of very specific high-impact improvements, including items that neighborhood groups and individual property owners can do.

  1. The general appearance of Lamar needs to be improved. It is ironic that the name of the street is Lamar Blvd.and as such should have a median with trees and flowers. This would help folks to cross the street and perhaps slow the traffic down.
