Short version: New buildings to open August 2026.
As part of Austin ISD’s 2022 bond package, voters approved a full modernization of our Barrington Elementary campus.
This will give the school learning spaces that support the way modern education works. It will also give them efficient building systems, with enough room for the library, counselors, the gym, and food preparation.
At first, the design team thought that many of the buildings could be modernized, with only the original 1968 building to be demolished. However, when they looked at costs, it comes out cheaper to make all new buildings, in a more compact, two-story form.
