We unanimously voted to support upcoming city council resolution #103 regarding establishment of a Vision Zero task force to work toward a goal of no traffic deaths in Austin.
We read, discussed, and unanimously decided to schedule two bylaw amendments for a vote in January.(see 1 and 2 below)
Due to concerns about low participation in the nomination and election process it was decided to postpone elections to Sunday evening, December 7 at 3pm at Bambu, a drink and dessert cafe in Chinatown Market (accessible by bus) on N. Lamar, and to hold an electronic call for further nominations,and to allow advance electronic as well as in-person voting.
A separate notice will contain details of this process.
Proposed bylaw changes to be voted on in January:
1. Change month of election and term of office:
Elections for officers will be held in January each year. Term of office will be approximately 15 months, from the February 1 through April of the following year. There will be an official training and transitional period for “Newly Elected” officers which begins February 1. The newly elected officers will assume full responsibility beginning at the April meeting.
2. Add to the list of officers the position of
Membership Registrar is responsible for maintaining the list of eligible voters and certifying the eligibility of members to vote.
Additional proposals are being refined and will be introduced at a future meeting, for voting upon at the following meeting.
