Barrington’s cafeteria was filled last Thursday evening with students, parents and siblings for Family Math Night. Teachers hosted math stations where students could explain concepts they had already learned to their parents, or learn new concepts together. Earlier this fall, Family Literacy Night at the first PTA meeting provided a similar opportunity for reading. PTA membership is open to neighbors and other community members, as well as parents. complete the Barrington PTA membership application and return it to the school office with your $7 annual dues.
New Principal Gilma Sanchez is also hosting regular “coffee with the principal” dropins where parents or neighbors can discuss any concerns or suggestions. She has identified improvements at the park and playground as the area where the neighborhood team could best support the school. Contact the Chair at email@example.com if you’d like to be involved in planning.
The school, along with AISD transportation planners, and City of Austin child safety and public works departments have already made many improvements to the traffic flow for student drop off and pickup at the Slayton entrance, leaving the front entrance on Cooper just for buses.
