Astronaut Neighborhood Watch Oct 22

(The neighborhood of Carpenter, Cooper, Glenn, Grissom, Schirra, Shepard, Slayton and Jan.)

Organizer Linda Harter reports:
We had a great discussion of issues affecting our neighborhood and made several decisions to further organize our community.

1. Block Captains
Alan and Karen Baumann for Slayton Dr
Janice McGinnis for Glenn Dr
Toby and Marissa Quiroz for Shepard Dr

The block captains will be reaching out to their neighbors to form a phone tree, get more people involved and increase awareness about what we are trying to do-BUILD COMMUNITY!

2. NOVEMBER 19 – Next meeting 9AM Barrington Elementary
Tree Planting at Rundberg/Slayton (more info to follow)
Barrington School Clean-up We need everyone to come out and help clean up the garbage especially along the fence on Rundberg side. Clean-up materials to be provided. We will be adopting the tree being planted (commit to watering for next two years).

3. Shepard Dr Community gathering Sat. November 5th 5PM !! details to follow

Generally we talked about the need to organize for better schools in our part of town, litter education for all, but especially children, and ways to contribute to improving our area of town. Neighborhood Watch can help us come together and address issues that affect us, but it takes more than just a few dedicated people. We need as many people as possible to get involved if we want to make a difference.

Recommendation 4: Create neighborhood watch and/or crime watch groups.
