Improved Brownie Playground maintenance schedule

Maintenance issues response from Kimberly McNeeley (Assistant Director, Austin Parks and Recreation Department):

  1. The park is scheduled to receive maintenance service 3 days a week. We have taken steps to ensure the park is visited according to schedule.
  2. The park is built in the middle of a retention pond. Therefore, when we receive rain, it is sometimes difficult to mow the entire area due to the retention of excess water. Please know half the park has been mowed but the other half is still extremely wet from the recent rains. As soon as it dries, a crew will be out to finish mowing.
  3. We removed two signs that were beyond repair and are re-fabricating signs in both English and Spanish. These will be reinstalled upon completion of the new signs.
  4. Unfortunately, we continue to battle graffiti in the park. As a preventative measure, the Department has forwarded pictures of the graffiti to APD to determine if they can offer assistance in deterring graffiti in the future. The Department will take extra measures to stay on top of the situation with the available resources.
Some of the graffiti has been cleaned however other areas are in need of additional cleaning measures that can not be completed by the daily maintenance crew. Please know arrangements have been made to access additional assistance with cleaning the remaining graffiti. Additionally, in the near future the walkways will be power washed.
